GeoCoach World - Bollards

Peru uses a lot of different bollard designs. Most of them are triangular or round and concrete. They're usually white with different colors at the top, such as yellow, black, or red.

Ecuador has different types of bollards, but all of them usually follow the same color scheme: white bollardwith red reflectors.

Wedge-shaped bollard with 2 rectangular red reflectors in slanted black frames on the front and white reflectors on the back is the most recognisable one.

Other types of Ecuadorean bollards will usually be round white with a random number of red reflectors.

White round or flat bollard with a black bottom. Sometimes features a reflector at the top.

Flat white plastic bollard with a red reflector that wraps all the way around the bollard and a white reflector on the back. Can also have additional yellow reflectors around the red one.

Poland uses similar bollards, but they're always slightly wider and sometimes can be wedge-shaped, which doesn't apply to the New Zealand ones.

Türkiye uses similar bollards, but the reflector will be noticeably thicker.

Australia uses similar bollards, but the reflector will be less thick.

Malaysia has different types of bollards. Usually they're white with black parts and red reflectors.

Indonesia has a lot of different bollards. Most of them follow the UK style with thick red rectangular reflector on the front and painted in multiple colors. Some are just concrete and blocky.

Taiwanese and Japanese bollards have a lot of different variations, but the most consistent element is a separate circular reflector on top. It can also commonly be found on top of guardrails.
The bollard's height, color and number of reflectors can be extremely inconsistent.

Concrete red-and-white bollards.

Short**, tapered** whiteconcrete bollards with a black base.

Square concrete black-and-white bollard. The black parts usually take up slightly less space than the white parts.

Square concrete bollard with a red painted top, sometimes with a yellow reflector. Can be flat or pointy at top.

Square concrete black-and-white bollard where the black parts take as much space as the white parts.

You can commonly find Thai bollards in Laos, their black parts usually take up slightly less space than the white parts.

White round bollard with a pointy top. The reflector is normally red, but can be just white and sometimes the top of the bollard will be red instead.

It's also used in Senegal because of the colonial past.

It's also very common to see a number printedunderthe front reflector, this is unique toLatvia combined with the bollard's shape and reflector.

New Zealand uses similar bollards, but they're always flat and narrower. But be careful, Poland can also use flat bollards, although they should never be narrow.

It's also possible to find a blue version of this bollard sometimes. It will either be fully blue or have blue reflectors. These are usually found on or near bridges.

These bollards are most common in Hungary and Macedonia. Slovakia started using them only in 2024.
Bulgaria rarely uses any bollards, but when it does, it's Hungary or Croatia style.

Croatia and Bosnia use very similar bollards with everything being the same, except for black frame being located closer to the top.

Bulgaria rarely uses any bollards, but when it does, it's Hungary or Croatia style.

Hungary, Slovakia and Macedonia use very similar bollards with everything being the same, except for black frame being located closer to the middle.

White bollard with a black top, usually with a dark red/black vertical reflector on the front and grey/dark grey on the back. Many bollards also feature a small nipple-shaped black cap on the top.

Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia use similar bollards, but reflector will always be light red instead of dark red/black, even though light red can still befound in Austria.

Austria has a second type of bollard with a reflector being dark red/black instead of light red. This style in unique to Austria.

Luxembourg uses the same grey reflector variant of the German bollard, but it will have 3 bolts instead of 2 on the front and a total of 4 bolts instead of 2 on the back.

Germany sometimes uses the same grey reflector variant of the Luxembourg bollard, but it will have 2 bolts instead of 3 on the front and a total of 2 bolts instead of 4 on the back.

Denmark uses similar bollards, but they will have a red stripe at the top.

Belgium uses a similar yellow reflector, but it will never feature a stripe at the top.

The top often lacks plastic and looks hollow, so you're able to see the structure of the bollard inside.

If you see a green stripe at the top, you're in a province of Extramadura.

It's also possible to find a generic European wedge-shaped bollard with a vertical white reflector.

South Korea uses similar bollards, but the reflector will be circular instead of square.

Cylindrical bollard with a rounded top. They are painted with black-and-white stripes and have a thick red rectangular reflector on the front and a white one on the back.

You can also find a white cylindrical bollard with a rounded top. Front reflector is big red and wraps all the way around the bollard and becomes white on the back. This bollard is unique to Scotland.
It looks very similar to the French bollard, but in France it will have a pointy top and the reflector will be red on both sides.

Thin white round bollard with vertical red reflector on the front and a white one on the back. Sometimes has a black top and the reflector in a black frame, but that's not always the case.

North Macedonia also very commonly uses a Croatia style bollard, but these thin round bollards are unique to Macedonia.

The US sometimes uses similar green reflector bollard on guardrails, so only guess Quebec if you're confident it's Canada.

Some Scandinavian countries use similar bollards, so only guess BC if you're confident it's Canada.
