A dead pixel (also called pixel, or dot) is a camera anomaly found mainly in generation 3 coverage. They can be a range of colors, mostly being black, blue, or orange. They typically aren’t as useful as smudges, but they can serve as a reliable confirmation for certain areas of Russia.
